In consecutive interpreting, the interpreter waits until the speaker has finished talking before translating their words into the target language. The interpreter is usually seated or standing very close to the speaker and normally takes notes in order to guarantee that the original message is rendered faithfully.
This communication is done in real time, without using technical support equipment or devices, at events like work meetings, bilateral business negotiations, press conferences, introductory presentations at conference opening ceremonies by authorities like mayors and councillors, etc.
